Make a fuss over moms with our new "Honor My Mom" web app

Creative Circle has launched another stand alone web application, this one focused on honoring moms on Mother's Day.

Honor My Mom follows the same strategy of Creative Circle's previous line of apps, including Honor My Grad, My Election Candidates and What's Open, which were used successfully by hundreds of newspapers to generate high traffic print and web content content along with new revenue streams.

Families can post a brief, free listing about their mom, including a photo or drawing. But they are encouraged to expand their listing for a fee that can be set by the local publisher. Publishers can also opt to make the upgrade free.

Upgraded listings add eight categories of content – all optional so families can pick and chose which apply – that include making a Top 10 list, talking about her work or volunteerism, what they are most proud of, favorite sayings and more. They can also upload a family photo album, a single vidoe and they can invite up to six family members to add a photo and story to the page. Publishers might charge between $5 and $35 for the upgraded page.

A second upgrade option allows the family to publish a listing in the print newspapers for a fee, which also is set by the publisher. Using Creative Circle's reverse publishing tools, publishers can pull listings from the app to run in print using InDesign tagged text files.

The app itself has a single sponsorship option but the page showcasing all the mom's can carry any number of secondary sponsors or advertisers.

"This is a great way to get some high interest, free content from your users," said Sean Finch, Creative Circle's VP/sales. "Combined with potential upgrade fees from the app and local sponsorships, publishers get a turnkey solution for Mother's Day promotions."

The app works with any web site and is available for a one-time annual fee. Publishers can purchase muiltiple apps at a discount.
