Political platform statement
Why I am running for this office: I am grateful for the opportunity to have served on the Portsmouth Town Council for the last two years. I am running for a second term so I can continue to serve the Town of Portsmouth, representing all of our residents fairly and working hard to address the needs and concerns of our entire community.
During my second term, I hope to make further progress on transportation safety and work collaboratively with RIDOT to address some of our most pressing issues on East and West Main Road. I will build on the efforts I have led since February 2019. I will advocate for improved alternative transportation infrastructure by supporting the development of a Green & Complete Streets ordinance of which we can all be proud.
Portsmouth must work harder to safely accommodate the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, public transportation, and wheelchairs, in addition to cars. I will also assist the Town in funding and developing a Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan to guide the sustainable stewardship of our shared natural and built environment. We are stewards of incredible public open spaces and need to protect them for future generations. And I will continue to support funding and capital improvements for our school department, to ensure that Portsmouth Schools can continue “Charting a Course to Excellence.”
My husband and I have lived in Portsmouth for over ten years, and are fortunate to be raising our two children in this wonderful community. We love Portsmouth and are committed to helping it thrive. With your support, I will help lead the way to ensure that Portsmouth continues to be a wonderful place to live, work, and play for many generations to come.
