Senior full-stack developer with big impact potential

This is an opportunity for an experienced, full-stack developer to have a big impact and to be involved in a wide range of tasks, from direct customer support and site construction to new product development and system and server administration. We're also a leading print design and consulting firm in the newspaper industry and we’re all about helping our media clients money on the web, so we’re involved in lots of interesting projects. We’re located in East Providence, R.I.

We're flexible, but these are kinds the traits and skills we are looking for:

-- A high level (3+ years) of full-stack development experience in a Linux environment. PHP proficiency is particularly important.

-- The ability to provide vision and guidance as we modernize, expand and maintain a large codebase spanning multiple applications.

-- Comprehensive Linux server administration abilities.

-- UX production expertise for desktop and mobile, using modern layout tools and techniques like vue and webpack.

-- Enterprise level data management.

-- Experience working with automation and deployment technologies like chef or ansible.

-- Experience providing and integrating with APIs and web services.

-- Our customer base is very professional but demanding so direct customer support is a big part of all our roles. The ability to quickly diagnose and fix problems, be able to listen and discuss issues with clients in lay terminology, and to stay calm and be reassuring under pressure is important.

-- A good communicator. Good at brainstorming and working with others. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

-- Problem solver with strong initiative. We will need you to take ownership and manage projects with little direction.

-- Reliable person who is good at making deadlines.

While not required, you get bonus points for:

-- Experience developing in a content management system.

-- Knowledge or experience or an interest in the media industry, especially newspapers.

-- SEO and/or social media content marketing knowledge.

-- WordPress plugin expertise.

-- Experience with ad servers and advertising networks.

-- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails programming.

-- Experience in working with InDesign and/or Quark.
